Elura is the first and only FDA-approved liquid appetite stimulant specifically developed for weight loss management in cats with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This once-daily oral solution helps restore appetite, promote weight gain, and improve quality of life in CKD cats who have stopped eating adequately.
Effectiveness
Clinically proven to increase appetite and body weight in cats with CKD. In studies, most cats showed a noticeable increase in food intake within the first few days of treatment, with significant weight gain observed over 56 days compared to placebo.
Usage
Elura is given once daily by mouth. It can be placed directly into the cat’s mouth using the provided dosing syringe or mixed with a small amount of food. Most cats readily accept the flavoured solution.
Dosage
2 mg/kg (0.9 mg/lb) body weight once daily. The bottle comes with an easy-to-use dosing syringe marked in 0.1 ml increments. Always weigh your cat and follow your veterinarian’s exact instructions.
Side Effects
The most frequently reported side effects are mild and include:
